A fire at a home on Montague Street in St. John’s caused extensive damage Sunday morning.
According to Shift Supt. Don Byrne of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department, the fire started in the kitchen. Firefighters were called to the home shortly after 7 a.m.
Byrne said the cause of the fire was still under investigation as of early Sunday evening. There was heavy fire damage to the back end of the house and heavy smoke damage throughout the remainder of the home.
Three people reportedly live in the single-attached dwelling.
