Snow and slippery driving conditions are contributing to a large number of accidents in and around the metro area today. The RNC responded to 11 accidents as of late this afternoon, most of which were in the downtown area of St. John’s. An RNC spokesman says downtown streets, particularly the hills, are especially treacherous. One vehicle went into a pole, cracking it in two on Mundy Pond Road near Murphy’s Lane earlier this afternoon.
Other accidents have been reported in the Livingstone and Carter’s Hill areas and at the Columbus Drive and Blackmarsh Road intersection.
