If you ask members of the Corner Brook Fire Department, says Jen Jenkins, they’re sure to tell you that firefighting is in their blood. That they had a father, grandfather or uncle who was a firefighter.
As the newest relief and first female firefighter at the department, Jenkins is no different. Growing up the fire department was a big part of her life. “I loved it right from the get-go.”
Her father Woody Mercer, a retired lieutenant, and step-father Carl King, a retired captain, both served with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department.
Congratulations to Jen on following her dream and on keeping the tradition alive.
