Fire at a home in Southlands caused smoke damage to a two-apartment home in the early-morning darkness today.

 

 The two people, who live in the basement of 17 Sumac Street, were outside the house when St. John’s Regional arrived around 5:45 a.m. The owners of the dwelling, who live upstairs, were not home at the time.
