The Liberal MHA for the Bay of Islands says Minister Judy Manning has made a complete mess of the new 911 system file, and is calling on the premier to remove her from it.
Eddie Joyce says Manning promised residents of the Avalon Peninsula that the new 911 system would be delivered by the RNC, which is in direct contradiction with how the service will be delivered on the west coast. Joyce says prior to government establishing the 911 Bureau, the RNC in Corner Brook provided that service. He describes her actions as “completely inappropriate.”
Joyce says he would like to see the service in the hands of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department.He says instead of lowering St. John’s services, the rest of the province should be rising to meet the level implemented in St. John’s, by the St. John’s Regional Fire Department.
