An abandoned garage on Bell’s Turn was destroyed by fire last night.
Firefighters with St. John’s Regional were called to the fire 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Multiple calls to the VOCM News room indicated there was a thick blanket of smoke coming from the fire and reducing visibility on the Outer Ring Road.

Cox says 16 firefighters helped battle the blaze which burned until after midnight. He says a decision was made to exit the structure and fight it from the outside.
