Geoff Sparkes said his union feels like it has been “left out of the conversation” when it comes to a decision by the City of Corner Brook to put the dispatchers at its new 911 centre under the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).
Sparkes, president of Local 1222 of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), said Monday that the city has never approached his union about the new dispatchers, despite the fact the positions were advertised as reporting to the fire chief at the Corner Brook Fire Department.
