The St. John’s Fire Fighters Association is hoping a cancer fundraising tour will bring about awareness on Presumptive Cancer Legislation. Firefighters held a boot drive over the weekend to raise money for Daffodil Place through the Typically Canadian tour, a cross-country fundraiser that involves the grandson of former Premier Frank Moores, Kyle Braatz. His father is a fire fighter in London, Ontario.
Local President Chuck Nurse says currently there is no legislation in Newfoundland for fire fighters who develop work related cancers. The fundraiser this weekend raised $4,300.
